Willie Revillame: “ABS-CBN Humiliated Me,” Leaves the Network
TV show host of “Wowowee” Willie Revillame fights back ABS-CBN and cried foul after his show was replaced by “Pilipinas Win na Win” despite the assurance he first got that he will return to the show
During a press conference, Revillame announced that he is leaving ABS-CBN despite an existing exclusive contract between him and the giant media outfit. On his letter to the network coursed through Charo Santos-Concio and Gabby Lopez III, Willie protested the humiliation and treatment he got from the network.
“I was shocked at the repudiation of the agreement for my return to ‘Wowowee’ on July 31. I am aware of the implications of my decision but I have to do it. I cannot just sit idly by and watch the death of a show that has brought joy and hope in so many ways to our less-fortunate countrymen.”
News were circulating that Willie is set to return to “Wowowee” on July 31, but then out of the blue a new show was put up composed of Kris Aquino, Robin Padilla, Pokwang, Valeria Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez. Rumors were circulating that an ABS-CBN executive threatened to resign if Revillame will be reinstated to the noontime variety TV show.
On his letter, Revillame furthered that he feels real bad for being placed on probationary status by the network without any clear direction and plans for him; he also strongly criticized the “unilateral downgrading of his appearance from live to a pre-recorded program” saying that such a format precludes “prior restraint and censorship.”
But one of the hottest words he said is that the network staged what could be a precise and well-coordinated attack on his image and personhood by “by airing destructive pieces against me, instead of promoting me as a talent” and “abuse of right under a one-sided contract of adhesion, intended to destroy my career and humiliate me.”
With that, Willie Revillame is asking the company to just let him go and not let this issue reach a legal battle between them.

Willie tried to strong arm ABS CBN into firing that showbiz reporter. Willie gambled and lost. Now, he’s crying foul. Yes, it’s humiliating for him. But he’s had a hand in that, I suppose.

It’s Willie’s fault even to the start. To note, he is just a talent of ABS-CBN and lumaki na ulo nya.
I think it is better for him to say goodbye and look for other opportunities.

Its redundant when people says that “lumaki na ang ulo nya.” But this in fact is the truth because they have gradually seen his transformation. Before he was courteous and respectful to his staffs, guests, and audiences. In the latter half of his stint in wowowee however, he sometimes rediculed his guest, scolded his staff live on tv when they do something he didn’t like, and sometimes when he interviews the tfc subscribers, he did it in an arrogant and sometimes demeaning way even with the foreigner guests when before he was respectful, humble, and polite. To sum it all up yamabang si willie talaga.He wanted to remind those people that his richer and superior than all of them.
This was exactly what transformed Mr. Revillame,a very ungreatful, disrespectful, abnoxious,and proven demeaning personality. For the break he was blessed with the help of ABS-CBN, he should just have embraced all offers, which were given in good faith. The network supported all he wanted for a while, but will, of couse, not tolerate excessive demeaning remarks and practices in business, which compromized the network’s public image in general. These deficted what he tried to portray on lived T.V., which was initially supported by the network.
Several untollerable scenarios had been demonstrated live,(comments on late Pres. aquino’s burial controversy as an example), on international television about his real personality, which undobtfully proven his questionable personality, simingly inherent and associated with uneducated people.
People who are born rich, educated, and became blessed with riches and fortunes will never show what they have in possession, gratifies and publicize these accomplishments in public. The Lopezes, Elizardes, Aranetas, Cojangcos and etc. consider these material things as uinsignificant and worthless in the public eyes. Their personal recognition, respectible images, social economic contributions, and public views and opinion creates a bigger impact and importance and not through claiming materal acquisitions. These blessings will just emerge publicly and become news by other reliable sources naturally and not by themselves. Only people like Mr. Revillame with limited education will reveal publictly their short lived acquisitions. He comoflugs using the less fortunetes as though he shares their sentiments, but at the back of his head, he hated them as demonstrated on the mannerism shown on television and by his side comments.
Mr. Revillame, acted as though he owned or partially owned ABS-CBN in using the show as advertisement for all his personal projects. ABS-CBN and its management permitted this to happen, which should have been restricted and stopped, since most of these were personalized ads and nothing beneficial to the network.
He should be ashamed of himself in even filing a case against the ABS-CBN network.
when you look at it both ways, willie is also the victim here. he was a victim of deception, on the part of the big honchos of ABS. offering to give him back his show, and then humiliating him in national TV, by saying that offer never existed. the problem with going against a giant network like ABS, is that after they have exploited the talents of their artists, then dump them just like any rotten tomato. and of course, they’re using other ‘puppets’ to do damage on air to artists that they want nothing to do with anymore.
sure, willie may seem the most big-headed , arrogant person on TV. but let’s face it, he really has the hosting skills and the talent to touch the hearts of the people, whether rich or poor, the filipino masses or the balikbayans. you can’t deny it, he’s sorely missed in noontime shows. a better offer will come for him, maybe in another network. one that will treat him more kindly and professionally.
