I Hate How ABS-CBN Chop-chops SpongeBob!

spongebobI am an avid fan of that yellow sponge down Bikini Bottom.  My two boys love him I guess more than I do.

We usually watch SpongeBob on TV5 every morning and afternoon.  Even before I go to work in the morning, I still sometimes still find time to sit with my little boys and watch SpongeBob, Patrick, Squid and Mister Krab.  The show on TV5 will run the whole episode without cut or commercial to our amazement and enjoyment.

Most recently, SpongeBob jump off ship and joined (or pirated?) by ABS-CBN obviously for the reason that TV5 with the yellow kid around who fries those patties raked in the early morning ratings big time.  But after watching SpongeBob on ABS-CBN most recently, I am really disappointed with how they ran the show:  cutting the episode into many pieces to insert commercials every 5 minutes or so and cutting some parts of episodes in order to fit the show to the time slot allotted for the yellow sponge.  I can say this because by now I pretty much memorize most of the episodes.  This set-up that ABS-CBN made with my kids’ favourite show sucks because it has become obvious that they are really capitalizing the show like a milking cow.  Fish paste!

This makes me wonder why a budding TV station TV5 can afford to run the whole episode without cut and commercials while a TV giant in ABS-CBN short changes the viewers as if thinking that kids would not notice that the yellow sponge has been devoured by commercials.

SpongeBob is also aired on QTV of GMA7 on its English version and I can say that their way of running the show is far better as to how ABS-CBN airs it.

I just hope that ABS-CBN would reconsider how they are running the show coz it sucks when a TV giant has made it really obvious that they are focusing more on making big bucks on a children’s show than giving young viewers a great viewing experience.

Barnacles!
