Mariel Rodriguez And Robin Padilla Married in Baguio

mariel-robinEverybody was shocked when the news broke out that Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla were married in Baguio last Monday, September 13.

Not once, but twice. Oh yes, the couple were married twice. They were married by Ibaloi culture, wherein an Ibaloi native priest conducted the wedding ceremony. It was said that Robin chose to their wedding to be held this way because he has Igorot origins. His mom, Eva Cariño-Padilla is an Igorot.

Mariel wore a woven ethnic attire and Robin wore a’ bahag” during the wedding ceremony. They also performed the usual Igorot wedding rituals–they drank “tapuy” (rice wine) as symbol of their love and they also danced the “tayaw” dance, a ritual by the Igorots to show that they are bounded by marriage.  The newly wed also had pig’s blood smeared on their faces.

Robin’s youngest son Ali was present to witness their marriage.

Soon after the Ibaloi wedding, Mariel and Robin were married again by a pastor.

I wonder if they also did the Igorot style for their honeymoon.
