Rep. Christopher “Chris” Lee Resigns After Topless Craiglist Photo Scandal
A New York Congressman was reported by several news sites to have submitted his resignation after a topless photo of himself that was sent to woman found its way online.
Rep. Christopher “Chris” Lee resigned on Wednesday.
Chris Lee is at the center of controversy after a gossip website reported that he had emailed a topless photo of himself to woman that he had men via the classified ads section of Craigslist.
Rep. Lee said on an official statement:
“It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.
The challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately.”
The married Republican congressman said that he will vacate his post immediately.
