Chris Medina, Axed on American Idol; Jennifer Lopez Breaks Down

You know how everyone was shocked when crowd-favorite Chris Medina didn’t make it to the much-awaited American Idol‘s Top 24? It was shocking alright. And you know how Jennifer Lopez, one of the judges, got all distressed and broke down? That was the highlight of the show.

I’m pretty sure everyone thought how unbelievable it was that Chris Medina, the one who sang The Script’s “Breakeven” on his audition and dedicated it to his sick fiancée, got axed from the reality show.  He sang Coldplay’s “Fix You”, an attempt to make it to Idol’s top 24..and failed.

“It honestly breaks my heart to say this, but you did not make it into the Top 24. We wish you the best with everything and we wish Julie the best with everything and we’ll miss you,” Jennifer Lopez told Medina.

To which Chris replied politely:

“It was so nice meeting you guys, it really was. I really wasn’t even going to take the path of being a musician any more.”

Those words probably hurt Lopez, and the moment Chris walked out of the room, she began to sob emotionally.

She uttered “I don’t want to do this anymore,” while being comforted by co-judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.
