Speculations about Regine Velasquez’s pregnancy first surfaced after she was reported to have been seen visiting a doctor more frequently.

After the announcement was made in the show, several showbiz personalities immediately sent their congratulations to the “I Heart You Pare” star.

Her pregnancy is now also being pointed out as the main reason of her reported collapse during a Party Pilipinas episode weeks ago.

Worthy to take note of is that, Regine Velasquez is already 40 years old during this time of her pregnancy.  We can say then that she could have a delicate pregnancy because of her age.

What could be the health risks of getting pregnant at the age of 40?

According to BabyCentre.co.uk, getting pregnant at the age of 40 is quite dangerous for the mother and the child as well.  This is because, at this age, mothers usually have already developed health problems like high blood pressure and diabetes.  The website also added that birth complications are also high.

Higher risk of low birth weight or premature baby was also recorded on several studies.  Children who were born by mothers at the age of 40 have an increased risk of developing type-1 diabetes and high blood pressure.

Of course, on these recorded studies by health experts there were also a good number of successfully pregnancies.  Nonetheless, Regine could expect from all of her fan that they will always hope for her good health and the baby on her womb.  For sure, her doctors will advise her to scale down from her showbiz commitments in order to have enough rest.
