Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 Crowned Ms. Casiguran

The recently concluded Miss Philippines-Earth has finally crowned the candidate who out-shined everyone else in the competition. It is in the person of Athena Mae Imperial from the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora. From the 50 lovely ladies, she emerged to be the best among the rest. She is a 24-year old Program Researcher who aims to become a news reporter someday.

This year’s pageant just had a twist as Carousel Productions Inc., the producer of the event changed the way the pageant goes. The 50 candidates didn’t appear in the final night as an elimination process took place. Only 10 candidates reached the top and compete with each other in city of Puerto Princessa, Palawan.

The theme is all about “International Year of the Forests” and has been also promoting the island of Palawan for being included in the nominees for 7 wonders of the world.

The candidates lavish the beauty of the island before they face their final quest. The coronation night was hosted by last year’s winners and TV host/actor John Estrada. The 10 candidates who made to the top are Ma. Alicia Elena Ariosa (Pagadian City), Murielle Adrienne Orais (Cebu City), Edan Dafilmoto (Cotabato City), Michelle Gavagan (Las Piñas City), Jonavi Quiray (Puerto Princesa City), Denisse Toribio (Malolos City), Brenna Gamboa (Fil East Coast USA), Athena Imperial (Casiguran), Tarhata Rico (Makati City), Catrine Rosary Ocampo (General Santos City).

They all answered an environment-wellness related question that has been the basis for choosing the top 5. Miss Athena Imperial (Casiguran) has been crowned as the 2011 Miss Philippines -Earth and she will representing the country in Thailand in the next few months. Miss Murielle Adrienne Orais (Cebu City) was also crowned as Miss Water, Miss Jonavi Quiray (Puerto Princesa City) as Miss Air, Miss Tarhata Rico (Makati City) as Miss Eco Tourism and Miss Michelle Gavagan (Las Piñas City) as Miss Fire.
