Arnold and Maria to Split $400M
After the filing of the petition for divorce, next up for Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger is the couple’s division of property.
According to reports, Maria Shriver and estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger will split about $400 million once their divorce becomes final. Each will also take half of their acquired properties since it has emerged that there is no pre-nuptial agreement between them.
Under California law, when there is no prenup between divorcing couples, all earnings and whatever property was acquired during the time of the marriage is considered community property, which translates to a 50/50 split.
Former Californian governor Schwarzenegger’s assets is reportedly worth an estimated at $300 million, while former journalist Shriver’s net worth is around $100 million.
Since the couple had been married for 25 years, it is probably impossible to separate what they each owned before they tied the knot. So, the entire family pot will most likely be considered community property.
Shriver filed for divorce on Friday and the division of property is yet to be determined.Get free updates directly to your e-mail from Showbiz Renegade. Just enter your e-mail below and confirm your subscription by clicking the link that will be sent to your e-mail.
