Natalie Portman’s Son to be Named Alef Portman-Millepied

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, who gave birth last month to her and fiancé Benjamin Millepied’s first child, revealed that they plan to name their baby ‘Alef’ – which means ‘oneness of God’ and also as an homage to Portman’s motherland.

The couple have also decided that their newborn son will adopt both their last names, hence the boy will have the surname Portman-Millepied.

Prior to the birth of her baby, Alef, Natalie admitted that her Jewish ancestry had caused her to be “superstitious”.

She said: “I think it’s a Jewish thing to be kind of superstitious. You don’t do any of the baby stuff before the baby arrives.”

Not only that, all throughout her pregnancy Natalie has paid tribute to her parents, Avner and Shelley Hershlag for how she was brought up. She said she hoped to look after her child in the same way that her parents brought her up.

She adds: “If I am a shadow as good a parent, an echo, then I will be the best in the world, so thank you.”

From the looks of things, I think baby Alef is bound to grow up fantastically because this early Natalie is showing superb parenting skills by realizing that her own parents did a good job in raising her well.
