Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer Leave Glee for Cast Revamp
Change is inevitable. And in keeping with that adage, Rachel (Lea Michele) may be permanently off the Gleetop treetop for good, along with Kurt (Christ Colfer) and Fin (Cory Monteith). It’s confirmed, the cast revamp is on! Co-creator Ryan Murphy finally and officially confirmed it during his interview at the Hollywood Reporter. Now, everyone wonders what life in the Glee world will be like minus the major and well-developed characters who have serenaded the viewers for the last two seasons…
Another thing being considered is changing the way on how each episode flows. It is just as inevitable to make changes that will suit new members of the cast or at least the possibly new roles that the old staying members will be holding for the next season. Will they still be thrown the Slushie in this season or will there be some positive changes on how they are treated in school as social outcasts? Will they will the Nationals this time around? And, most importantly, will the graduates of Glee still make visits and appearances in the coming episodes?
The first hints of the cast shaking effort was found during the same’s previous interview with Ryan Seacrest on radio. It was a point well taken, considering that the cast members do need to graduate from high school and move on, so to speak. The Glee Club will be as true to the timeline of real life high school kids. This is quite a risky move, but may be a good move to be proven later in time.
Aside from the desire to keep them in the right realistic time line of high school life, Murphy is motivated by another cause: to discover fresh talents. To this, he claims that the revamp must be a thing to celebrate and not be depressed about: “I think that just like with the original cast, I think finding those young unknown people and giving them an opportunity to break into the business and become stars is a really fun and exciting thing and is the spirit of the series.” That’s good news, since more fresh faces with pleasant voices can be witnessed in the much-awaited season.
On the other hand, there is also some pressure on the part of the new members of Glee because they really huge pairs of shoes to fill after the epic following that the characters of Rachel, Kurt, and Fin have imprinted to the Glee fanatics. The Gleeks will surely be expecting more quality to sustain their faithfulness to watching each episode. Season 2 has been most successful in upping the ante and sustaining the initial thrill that Season 1 brought. Now that Glee is further immersed in the mainstream of couch potatoes, there is more expectation and less room for wrong moves.
The actual list of who remains in the cast and who does not will be discovered during the premiere night of the new season this coming September 20. Making new music on screen is on its way to getting redefined.
