Amy Winehouse’s Parents Left Heartbroken
No parent would ever want to deal with the passing of a beloved child because it is simply not the ‘norm’ – children are supposed to outlive and be the ones to mourn their parents’ passing, not the other way around.
Unfortunately, Janis and Mitch Winehouse will have to force themselves to find the strength and courage to deal with their daughter’s untimely death.
Although they knew their daughter has long been struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, the news of her death still took them both by surprise.
Janis, who admits to thinking it was “only a matter of time” before her daughter died, recalled seeing the “Rehab” singer the day before her death. She said, “She seemed out if it but her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me. Amy always said ‘I love you mum’ when we would say goodbye. They are the words I will always treasure. I’m glad I saw her when I did.”
Amy’s father, Mitch said, “This isn’t real, I’m completely devastated. I’m getting the next plane back. I’m coming home. I have to be with Amy.”
The family released a statement today which reveals the heartbreak they are battling.
The statement said: “Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister and niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time.”
Amy is survived by her father, mother and brother Alex.Get free updates directly to your e-mail from Showbiz Renegade. Just enter your e-mail below and confirm your subscription by clicking the link that will be sent to your e-mail.
