Mexican beauty pageant winner ousted for weight issue

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But this may not be the case for Mexican beauty Ms. Cynthia de la Vega, who was stripped of the honor to represent Mexico due to weight issues.

Last August 3, Organizers of the Nuestra Belleza Mexico announced their decision to take away the 19-year-old Mexican model and the 2010 Nuestra Belleza Mundo México titleholder’s right to represent their country at the Miss World 2011.

According to their statement, de la Vega had ‘failed to fulfill her obligations’. A rep also told reporters that evaluations were done ‘to verify the performance of Miss De la Vega’ and it was learned that ‘she failed to fulfill the recommendations made and goals agreed to for her preparation’.

Meanwhile, de la Vega, who finished second in a beauty contest, is fighting to keep her right. She said in a press conference that while the organisers demanded her to lose a few kilos, they never gave a nutritionist or assistance to guide her in losing weight.

‘I want to make it clear that I did not have a specific nutritionist, that it was the coach himself, Luis Rangel, who sent us the diet via e-mail, which consisted of the same food during the whole month,’ said the brown beauty.
