Lindsay Lohan’s Spread is Selling like Hotcakes
Despite the online leakage of Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy photos and actual magazine lay-outs, the magazine is flying off the shelves.
Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner was initially concerned that the leak would significantly affect sales so he decided to move the release date earlier to get it quickly in newsstands.
However, the leak did not seem to affect the sales too much. Hefner even tweeted “The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records.”
Newsstands have run out of magazines because people have been buying multiple copies. Major cities such as New York and Los Angeles have re-ordered the issue multiple times whereas other cities that rarely order more issues have been requesting for more copies.
There has also been an increase in the subscription sales of the magazine’s online service, iPlayboy.com.
Lohan’s photoshoot was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s shoot for Playboy.
Hefner earlier admitted that the was unsure as to whether he wanted Lohan for the cover.
“I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. I wasn’t quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it’s Tuesday or Thursday.” Hefner told E! news in an interview.
The photos that are on the magazine were taken from a re-shoot. Hefner said the the first set of photos were unflattering and not at par with how he envisioned it to be.
Hef, as the founder is also called, also confirmed that Lohan didn’t want to pose completely naked at first but he pushed for it.Get free updates directly to your e-mail from Showbiz Renegade.
