Tiger Woods Confident for the Victory at AT&T Pebbel Beach National Pro-Am finals

Tiger Woods is so confident enough for the cup of victory in his first trip in a decade to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Apparently, Woods is 11-under for the tournament, good enough for a share of third place and four shots off Charlie Wi’s pace. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will be in the second-to-last group for Sunday’s final round while Wi pairs with Ken Duke.

That’s the ultimate goal … and that’s the goal tomorrow,” Woods said Saturday after carding a 5-under 67 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

According to some reports, the last time Woods was positioned this well after 54 holes in a PGA Tour event: Also at Pebble Beach, in the 2010 U.S. Open, where he finished fourth.

Two weeks ago, Woods shared the lead entering the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, only to fall two strokes behind Robert Rock.

This is shaping up to be a great tournament for Woods. He has already opened with three straight rounds under 70. He didn’t do that once in 2010 or 2011. He seemed to have figured out his putter for the first time in a long time during that stretch of eight holes.

Even though Woods didn’t do much after that it is significant that he was able to find his stride at all. His excitement was visible as he drained putt after putt. It felt like a long time since we have seen that kind of Tiger.

Saturday’s round was keyed by his ability to not give back any precious strokes. In Woods’ words, he scored well but didn’t hit as solidly as the previous couple days at Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
