Liam Hemsworth Makes His Own Mark

Australian actor Liam Hemsworth should be recognized beyond being Mr. Miley Cyrus now after his appearance in the film adaptation of ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy. The younger brother of ‘Thor’ star Chris Hemsworth is cast as Gale Hawthorne, lead character Katniss Everdeen’s best friend since childhood.

The younger Hemsworth met Cyrus while filming ‘The Last Song’ in 2009. Since then they have been dating and he has been identified more as the pop star’s boyfriend than being a legitimate Hollywood actor.

With Liam’s role in ‘The Hunger Games’, he may just become his own man as he gets more exposure beyond the young adult fan base of the hit novel by Suzanne Collins. In the first of a trilogy, main protagonist Katniss is torn between her affections for Gale and Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson).

Hemsworth is also set to appear in the sequel ‘Expendables 2’ with Sylvester Stallone and a bunch of other action heroes. Stallone initially planned on casting Hemsworth in the first ‘Expendables’ movie but for some reason his character was written off. This time Stallone kept him in mind and will be cast as Billy ‘The Kid’ Timmons.

With new projects coming up, Liam could very well become a legitimate star rather than just being an actor who happens to be Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend and Chris’ younger brother.
