Missing Gavin Smith: Family Utilizes Social Media for Leads and Information

The search for the mysterious disappearance of a Hollywood executive is taken to cyberspace in the hope of yielding clues and some leads that authorities could use.

Gavin Smith, a 57-year old film distribution executive of 20th Century Fox, is missing for almost a week now.  Smith’s family told authorities that Gavin was last seen at his home in Oak Park, California near Los Angeles around 9 to 10 PM.  But he was said to have driven off his black Mercedes car two hours before midnight and since then never came back.

Gavin’s wife went and reported the incident to police authorities after her husband failed to pick up their son for school the next day and since then never reported to work or showed up to any members of their family or friends.  They were also trying to contact his mobile phone to no avail as the device is seemed to have been turned off.

“He would never do anything like that. He’s a great father. My dad had no reason to leave. No reason at all,” said Evan Smith, eldest son of the missing Hollywood executive.

Gavin’s family put up the website findgavinsmith.com in order to track reports, latest developments and encourage anyone to send information on the whereabouts of Gavin Smith.  They also have been using Facebook and Twitter to spread the word of their family member’s mysterious disappearance.

In a tweet by Gavin’s son on Sunday, he said,

“I will not stop until I find my father.  A son never gives up on his father.”

The Smith family describes Gavin as 6’6 tall, about 210 pounds, with goatee, green eyes and grey hair with some blonde highlights.  Accordingly, he was last seen wearing gray shoes and black and purple pants.
