Concert for a Cause

A couple of county singers in Dallas Texas organized a concert to raise money for victims of recent wildfires. Dixie Chicks vocalist Natalie Maines told the roaring crowd last Monday that they did not hesitate at all when her band was invited to perform on the said concert along with fellow country music stars.

She and her band mates sang together with George Strait, Willie Nelson and other musicians and singers during a mega concert held in Austin that raised more than $500,00. Maines assured the crowd that even if they do not have homes and might not look lovely, but still they all look fantastic.

Willie Nelson performed together with new folk singers The Avett Brothers then was backed up by Asleep at the Wheel which actually made the crowd gone wild when they had their own rowdy versions of the singer’s classic “On the Road Again” and “Will the Circle Be Broken”.

Asleep at the Wheel front man Ray Benson said the music community felt a responsibility to work in this kind of situation that’s why when he and his band was offered about it, he did not hesitate and he even helped book the performers.

Christopher Cross started the concert and is hosted by Kyle Chandler who just recently won an Emmy award for his role as a school football coach titled “Friday Night Lights”.
