Billy Crystal To Replace Eddie Murphy As Oscars 2012 Host – After Eddie Murphy quits as host of the 2012 Oscar ceremony which is due to be held in February, Billy Crystal got the job despite a social media campaign to have the Muppets host the Oscar ceremony this year. Eddie Murphy has decided after the resignation of producer Brett Ratner.

The comedian Tweeted on Thursday that: “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show.”

Billy Crystal is an American actor, writer, producer, comedian and film director. He earned prominence in the 1970s for playing Jodie Dallas on the ABC sitcom Soap and became a Hollywood film star during the late 1980s and 1990s, appearing in the critical and box office successes “When Harry Met Sally and City Slickers.” He has hosted Academy Awards 8th times.

It will be 9th time as emcee of the big show for Crystal. This year’s Academy Awards would b ethe 84th which will be air on 26 February 2012 on ABC.
