President Obama Salutes Pearl Harbor Day

US President Barack Obama issued a statement in honor of the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, triggering the U.S. entry into World War II. The name alone also means a big surprise, defeat and rise of the common purposes from ashes.

According to Obama, “Seventy years ago today, a bright Sunday morning was darkened by the unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor,”

“Today,” he added, “Michelle and I join the American people in honoring the memory of the more than 2,400 American patriots — military and civilian, men, women and children — who gave their lives in our first battle of the Second World War.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families for whom this day is deeply personal — the spouses, brothers and sisters, and sons and daughters who have known seven decades without a loved one but who have kept their legacy alive for future generations.”

Furthermore, President Obama sent his prayers to the families of the more than 2,400 American civilians and members of the military who gave their lives at Pearl Harbor specially to those veterans who went on to build the largest middle class in history and the strongest economy in the world.

In his speech, released by White House, the US President also urged the public to have unity behind his vision for reclaiming American values. The World War II veterans who overcame the odds, including the Great Depression, “remind us that no challenge is too great when Americans stand as one,” Obama said.

According to some reports also, the Obama administration this year released an initiative to push private-sector firms to hire at least 100,000 veterans by the end of 2013.  The President also added and included in his jobs legislation a component offering tax incentives for businesses that hire unemployed veterans.

He also made note of the conclusion of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama  announced in October that all U.S. troops in Iraq will be home in time for the Christmas holiday.
