2012 NBA MVP Award Goes to Lebron James

And the 2012 NBA Most Valuable Player award goes to Lebron James! Miami Heat forward LeBron James won the 2012 KIA NBA MVP award, as reported by an NBA headline at NBA.com on Friday, May 11, 2012 besting other MVP contenders Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant.

This was Lebron James‘ third MVP in four seasons in the NBA. Reports say that NBA Commissioner David Stern will be presenting the 2012 KIA NBA MVP trophy to James on Sunday afternoon, May 13, before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Miami Heat versus Indiana Pacers.

Lebron James averaged 27.1 points this season on just 18.9 shot attempts a game, which is nearly (by .1 of a shot) a career-low.

James will join seven other players who have at least three NBA MVP trophies that include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Moses Malone.

In an interview last week, James said that another MVP award “would be amazing and would be humbling.” He however clarified that it’s not what drives him.

In his ninth season, James is clearly seeking for his first NBA championship.
