Royal Wedding Eight-layered Cake

When you think about it, the whole wedding awed the entire world. It was perfect, and the British Monarchy gave us a taste of what a royal wedding looks like. How about a taste of the Royal wedding cake? It wasn’t only Princess Kate’s wedding gown that earned the praises of the critics and wowed the world.

Their eight-layered cake made by British pâtissier Fiona Cairns also harvested the admiration it deserves from the entire world.

The cake was made in a five-week span and was designed with garlands, roses, acorns, ivy leaves, apple blossoms and bridal rose.

It was said that Princess Kate requested Cairns to put 19 different kinds of flower in the cake which depicts the “language of flowers.”

“I could not believe I finished it in time but we were all really pleased with it. I worked at the palace for two days before the wedding, setting it up with my team,” Cairns shared.

The base of the wedding cake had ivy leaves which symbolize marriage while the first three layers had laces and daisies, which means innocence, sweet William, lavender and “grant me one smile”.

The fourth tier was equipped with garlands while the fifth layer was surrounded by latice work and pipe leaf. Lily of the Valley which isthe symbol of  sweetness and humility was designed in the sixth layer with initials by William and Kate.

On the seventh and eight tier, English rose, Scottish thistle, Irish and Welsh daffodil Shamrock could be seen.

On the other hand, Cairns refused to share the ingredients that she used upon making the royal wedding cake.

A cake for the the groom, Prince William, was also made.

Prior to the wedding, it was said that the couple asked McVitie’s Cake Company to create a chocolate biscuit cake from the original recipe of the Royal Family which was personally requested by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, intended for the reception at Buckingham Palace.
