Thia Megia on Bottom Three Despite Great Performance, but Survives Elimination Night

Filipina-American Idol contestant Thia Megia wowed the audience and the judges during her performance on Wednesday night on American Idol.

With the theme of “Motown” classics, Thia performed “Heatwave” by Martha and Vandellas.  Her performance won for her praises from the three judges with entertainment writers even hinting that they have already seen the strongest contender for the title this season.

Thia Megia’s performance last night was a far cry from her previous acts that made some observers label her a “balladeer” and a “boring” singer.  During the elimination night last week, she responded to the comment of Randy Jackson about her being “boring” by saying that there is more to her than just being a balladeer.

And she indeed came back to the competition stronger and fiercer.

Despite her wonderful performance though, she still ended up at the bottom three with Casey Abram and Stefano Langone.  (check out Idol result here of who was sent home)

Coming of her shell as has been asked of her paid off.  But it has not yet totally convinced the viewers.  What a sigh of relief it was for her when she was not eliminated and will have to go back next week for another week of competition.

As I have shared here, Thia should show her versatility, her power and singing prowess, and that starts from choosing the right song.
