Rapper Ja Rule Off to Prison

No one can escape the long arm of the law, not even famous celebrities or artists. This is what seems to be the message the judge who sentenced rapper Ja Rule, Jeffrey Atkins in real life, to two years imprisonment wants to convey.

It will be remembered that Ja Rule pleaded guilty six months ago to felony attempted criminal possession of a weapon after he and Lil Wayne were busted back in July 2007 on gun charges where police found a semiautomatic handgun in Ja Rule’s sports car.

Because of the guilty plea, he was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison in a New York City courtroom and was later hauled off in handcuffs.

“See y’all later,” Ja Rule told his wife Aisha, his mother, his mother-in-law and other supporters who showed up in the courtroom. “Love you!” they all called out to him as he was being led away.

The rapper was booked into custody at a city jail while he awaits information on his final lockup destination.

As if to make his legal woes worse, Ja Rule also pleaded guilty last March to tax evasion for owing more than $3 million in New Jersey back taxes. This can translate into an additional three years behind bars for the rapper.
