Russell Crowe Crusades against Circumcision

Hollywood is gradually becoming an arena for social and political advocacy as more stars are opening up about their mission and passion. Well,  you can now add Russell Crowe to the long list of celebrities who are fighting the “evils” of the world as he goes on with his crusade against circumcision.

The 47 year old New Zealand-born Australian actor has took to twitter his disgust for circumcision last Thursday. Followers, apparently, were not so happy with his anti-circumcision remarks. Crowe later deleted his tweets and apologizes after finding himself in hot water with the fans.

The incident started when Twitter user picknic11 wrote “My son is due soon, do you think I should get him circumstanced?” to which the Oscar winner tweeted “Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? He furthered lashed out on circumcision saying “I will always stand for the perfection of babies, I will always believe in God, not man’s interpretation of what God requires. And to those who disagreed: “Last of it, if u feel it is yr right 2 cut things off yr babies please unfollow and f- off, I’ll take attentive parenting over barbarism,” which enraged followers.

After a slew of spiteful comments, the Gladiator star has remove those statements and issued an apology. Meanwhile, picknic11 has also apologized to Crowe for causing such a ruckus. She went on and clarified that her tweet was meant to be a joke. “For the record, I was not asking Russell for parenting advice, I was making A JOKE. A joke about one word that sounded a bit like another.”

Circumcision is good for the male while ‘monthly period’ is good for the female…uncircumcised boys are
pale…circumcision does good to a man’s body, also, it is hygienic

Lets say.. That it was a custom of some places to do female circumcision.. After all – It’s just a bit of excess skin and stuff and without it you’d hardly miss it. It’s cleaner too – less area to wash. And it has religious connotations as well.

However I can hear the screams of “How Barbaric and Uncivilised”

But consider – why is it any the less barbaric that it is done to a male than a female?
In Europe most men are uncircumcised but we do not hear plagues of HIV, news of rampant cervical cancer, nor any other distressing new deploring the uncut status of the men there.

Simply.. Circumcision is an operation in search of a cause – and the sooner this is realised then the cutting can stop.

Good for him! It’s a sick practice that’s driven by ignorance, money, religious fanaticism and fetishsim.
Leave kids sexual organs alone! Boys and girls. Anyone who tries to justify either is part of the problem in ending this child abuse.
