Susan Boyle, the Musical

“Life’s a stage”, and for Scottish singer Susan Boyle this statement could not be any more accurate.

The singing phenomenon who shot to stardom in 2009 after joining the talent competition “Britain’s Got Talent” will soon see her life unfold on stage – as a new musical.

The musical entitled, “I Dreamed a Dream”, after the song that made Boyle an overnight singing sensation will tour internationally from 2012 after premiering at Theatre Royal in Newcastle, England, on March 23.

Boyle will be played by actress Elaine Smith, a personal favorite of the singer and who is best known for her role in the British comedy series Rab C Nesbitt.

According to Boyle, “I never thought my life story would end up on the stage but a lot has happened in two years and it is a very exciting prospect. I hope everyone enjoys the show and I promise there will be a few surprises along the way.”

The musical’s producer, Michael Harrison said of the show, “It’s got all the qualities of a fairytale, but with the added bonus of being absolutely true.”
