36th Metro Manila Film Festival Winners

 

Eight movie entries were judged at the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night held at Meralco Theater in Pasig City. The Gutierrez siblings–Ruffa, Richard, and Raymond–were the hosts the night.

Ang Tanging Ina (Last Na To!) dominated the competition and got a total of nine awards on this year’s MMFF: Best Actress (Ai-Ai Delas Alas), Best Director (Wenn Deramas), Best Supporting Actress (Eugene Domingo), Best Child Performer (Xyriel Manabat)  Best Screen Play, Best Story, Best Musical Score, Gender Sensitive Award and Best Picture.

However, Studio 5 and Cinemabuhay International’s movie entry Rosario, starred by Jennylyn Mercado got seven awards in total: Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing, Best Production Design and Best Float.

Comedy King Dolphy won as Best Actor for Father Jejemon and also got the Best Supporting Actor for his role in Rosario.

Horror entries Dalaw starring Kris Aquino and Shake, Rattle & Roll XII ain’t got any awards.

  • Best Editing: John Wong (Rosario)
  • Best Production Design: Joel Luna & Miki Hahn (Rosario)
  • Best Visual Effects: Rico Guttierez & Co. (Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote)
  • Best Makeup: Nestor Dayao & Co. (Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote)
  • Best Theme Song:- “Kaya Ko” (RPG: Metanioa)
  • Best Musical Score – Jesse Lazaten (Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin: Last Na ‘To!)
  • Best Sound Recording – (tie) Ditoy Aguila (Super Inday and the Golden Bibe) & Ambient Media (RPG: Metanoia)
  • Best Child Performer: Xyriel Manabat (Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin: Last Na ‘To!)
  • Best Indie Film: Presa (Adolf Alix)
  • Gender Sensitive Award: RPG: Metanoia & Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin: Last Na ‘To!
  • Best Float: Rosario
