Ai-Ai delas Alas and Coco Martin: Top Winners at the star Awards


Ai-Ai delas Alas and Coco Martin were adjudged as the best actress and best actor, respectively, in the 27th Star Awards for Movies held yesterday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of the Resorts World Hotel Manila, Pasay City.

Delas Alas won for her outstanding portrayal of a mother in Star Cinema’s blockbuster comedy, “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To)” while matinee idol, Coco Martin won the best actor trophy for his role of a broadcast journalist who followed President Noynoy Aquino on the campaign trail in the indie film, “Noy”.

Other major winners included Eugene Domingo as best supporting actress for Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To) and Tirso Cruz III as best supporting actor for the political drama, “Sigwa”.

“Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To)” also won the Movie of the Year award and the Movie Director of the Year honors also went to its director, Wenn Deramas.

Xyriel Manabat of “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To) also won as best child performer and Marya Ignacio won Movie Editor of the Year for the same film.

Other films that went home with trophies included epic-musical “Emir”, which won four Star trophies; period drama Rosario won for best production design and romantic-comedy Here Comes The Bride tied with “Ang Tanging Ina (Last na ‘To) for the best child performer award with Timothy Chan.
