Oprah’s Generosity Never Ends

Even after her Oprah Winfrey show has ended, Oprah’s generosity and penchant for surprises never fails to show itself.

The queen of talk shows, known for her ‘favorite things’, recently arranged a trip to the United States for her South African schoolgirls so they could have a ‘meet and greet’ with President Barack Obama and his first-lady, Michelle

Winfrey took 26 girls from her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa for an exclusive visit to the White House where they met the first couple while they were scouting for tertiary institutions to study at.

Oprah had this to say about one girl from her school, “This girl is still living in an orphanage. When she goes home at the end of each break, she goes back to an orphanage. And she was at the White House meeting the president and the first lady of the United States of America. It’s unbelievable to me that that is what is happening to them.”

Then she started talking about another girl, which made her teary-eyed.

She said, “This girl lives in a tin shack the size of my office table. Air comes in on the side. And she was at the White House. That is unbelievable to me. And she was one of the lowest-scoring girls, and now she’s one of the top girls. And she was at the White House.”
Oprah hastened to add that she wants her schoolgirls to feel like they are “princesses”.
