Fran Drescher to Stay ‘Happily Divorced’

‘She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens, til her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes. What was she to do, where was she to go? She was out on her fanny.

So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield’s door, she was there to sell make up but the father saw more. She had style, she had flair, she was there… That’s how she became the Nanny.’

But, the former ‘nanny’ is now ‘happily divorced’ and will probably stay that way for at least another season after TV Land renewed the comedy show ‘Happily Divorced’ for another 12 episodes.

Inspired by Fran Drescher’s real life story (she divorced her husband after finding out he is gay), the show follows a Los Angeles-based florist whose 18-year marriage ends suddenly when her husband announces he’s gay.

In a statement from TV Land President Larry W. Jones, he said, “We are thrilled that our viewers have embraced Happily Divorced just like they did with Hot in Cleveland. “It’s fantastic that we get to keep working with Fran, this amazing cast and all of the talented writers on another season.”

The first of the 12-episode second season is tentatively scheduled to premiere next spring.
