Amy Winehouse Found Dead in Her London Flat

Rehab singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat on Saturday, July 23. The 27-year-old British singer was publicly known to have battled drugs and alcohol addiction. The official cause of her death is not yet made known.

An ambulance was called at about 4 p.m. to her residence in Camden, North London. Paramedics were not able to revive her.

The Metropolitan police tells Daily Mail, “police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A month ago, Winehouse performed at Belgrade’s Fortress festival where she was booed because she could barely get herself together and remember the words to her own song.

Subsequest performance in Kucuk Ciftlik Park festival in Istanbul and the Ejekt festival in Athens were cancelled due to the said performance.

Prior to that performance, the soul jazz singer appeared to be getting her life back on track by checking into rehab for her battles with drugs and alcohol. She only stayed in rehab for a few days in May.

Janis Winehouse, Amy’s mother, have been worried of her daughter’s addiction even years ago. In an interview with UK’s Sunday Mirror in 2008, Mrs. Winehouse shares; ‘I’ve known for a long time that my daughter has problems. But seeing it on screen rammed it home. I realize my daughter could be dead within the year. We’re watching her kill herself, slowly. I’ve already come to terms with her dead. I’ve steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery. Because the drugs will get her if she stays on this road.”
