Alex Trebek Injured After Chasing Hotel Burglar

Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek must be constantly reminded that he is already 71 years old and more importantly, that he must not be chasing after hotel burglars just like that anymore. Whatever happened to hotel security or celebrity bodyguards?

Trebek snapped his Achilles tendon Wednesday as he chased after a female burglar who pocketed several items from his San Francisco hotel room. The pain caused him to fall on the carpeted floor, but still caused him to bruise his other leg. Talk about double ouch!

Trebek was in Mountain View, Calif. to host the National Geographic World Championship at Google. He said the burglar entered his room at 2:30 a.m. and stole several items such as cash and a bracelet from his mother.

The woman was later on identified as Lucinda Moyers, 56, who hid the stolen property near an ice machine on Trebek’s floor. She was arrested by San Francisco Police and charged with felony burglary and receiving stolen property.

The money and Trebek’s bracelet were not recovered. Trebek will undergo surgery this Friday and is expected to be in a cast for six weeks.
