Oprah Winfrey to Receive Humanitarian Oscar Award

 

While there has been no announcement yet if she will indeed host the next Oscar Awards, what is certain is that Oprah Winfrey will receive an Oscar award – a humanitarian Oscar award that is.

Also set to receive an award at the next Oscars is actor James Earl Jones who will receive an honorary Oscar.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Winfrey and Jones, both past Oscar nominees, will receive their awards at the Academy’s annual Governors Awards on Nov. 12, along with makeup artist Dick Smith, who will also be honored with an Oscar statuette.

Jones is a veteran of more than 50 films, most notable of which are Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. He was also nominated for best actor in 1970 for The Great White Hope.
Younger fans may know him now as the voice of Darth Vader in the ‘Star Wars’ movie franchise.

Winfrey, on the other hand, with receive the ‘Jean Hersholt award’. She was nominated as best actress in ‘The Color Purple’ in 1985.
