Betty Ford Center to Get $500K From Former First Lady’s Will

Betty Ford may have already passed on but her legacy will live forever though the Betty Ford Center, probably known far more for treating Hollywood celebrities than for being the name-sake of the former first lady and wife to former US president Gerald Ford.

Aside from granting the rights for the treatment facility to use her name forever, the late Betty Ford also did not forget to leave the center a generous sum to continue her good works.

The Betty Ford Center managers learned this week that the former first lady’s left the rehab center that bears her name $500,000 in donations.

Mrs. Ford had authorized a $400,000 donation in her final will, which was signed three weeks before her death on July 8, but it will also receive another $100,000 from a foundation she and former President Gerald Ford founded a decade ago.

Mary Pattiz, chairman of the Betty Ford Center Board of Directors, had this to say, “Mrs. Ford was and always will be the heart and soul of this place of healing. It means so much to us that after all she had given over the past 30 years, the center was still front and center in her mind during her final days.”
