Arnell Ignacio Files Extortion Complaint Against Three HPG Police Officers


The actor, comedian, television show host and businessman Arnell Ignacio was reported to have filed an extortion case against 3 police officers from the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) of the Philippine National Police.

The case stemmed from an incident that was got involved with the 3 police officers last March 26.

Arnell said that the three police officers followed him while he was driving his Porsche.  He was then stopped and apprehended for violations regarding his purchase of his car which he said were all baseless.  He added that the police officers accused him of not paying the right taxes for his car.  But Arnell denied this.

He said that the officers asked from him P50,000 lest they impound his vehicle. Arnell gave in to their demands.

The three police officers were identified as PO3 Jeol Lasala, PO3 Jose Levy Llagas and PO3 Neil Pono.

The administration of the Philippine National Police had already disarmed the 3 police officers and they were relieved from their duties pending the result of the investigation.  Formal charges will also be filed against them.

Arnell Ignacio said in a radio interview that other people who were victimized by the same police offices had also approached the investigators after learning of the incident.
