Cameron Diaz Studies the Script Before Deciding

“You are only as good as your last film”, is probably Cameron Diaz’ guiding career philosophy because the beautiful Hollywood actress has become more and more choosy with her film projects.

Diaz’s choice of projects is said to heavily dependent on the “written word” – the movie’s script.

She has to read the script entirely before committing to do the movie version because she feels that first impressions can change if the script is read thoroughly.

The 38-year-old actress is quick to admit that she was unimpressed at first when she was given the script for her new movie “Bad Teacher”, where she is to play a foul-mouthed schoolteacher whose plan to get ahead in life is to save up for breast augmentation, all in the hopes of snagging the man of her financial dreams.

Diaz said it was good that she carried on reading the script because she eventually fell in love with her character Elizabeth Halsey.

She said, “Thirty pages in, I didn’t want to know her and then by 10 pages more I was starting to get her. By the end I loved her. My rule is I have to read it all the way through. It’s kind of like the dress that looks terrible on a hanger, and then you try it on and it’s the only dress that looks good – after you’ve said, ‘That will never look good’ ”
