Deadly Storm Killed 5 In Belgium’s Pukkelpop Music Festival


Authorities reported that at least 5 people died and 100 more were injured in the on going Pukkelpop Music Festival in Belgium. The festival is now officially canceled after a deadly storm wrecked two concert stages. In a span of only 10 minutes, the entire place was turned into a mudbath. The incident was clearly unexpected because if not, the festival would not have been pushed through.

The festival goers were all wet as they evacuated the place while others are crying with so much fear in their faces. U.S band, Smith Westerners were performing that time when the deadly storm hit the vicinity. The band reported that they were inches away from danger that time and were thankful that were not badly hurt. They also tweeted that they were hoping that the festival facilitators were able to secure insurance because all their equipment were broken. They also mentioned that they are praying that no one got hurt. The storm were strong enough to uproot trees which eventually fell on the stages of the festival.

However, at least 5 has been confirmed dead and approximately 100 people were badly hurt. The organizers of the event were deeply saddened of has happened. ‘Pukkelpop is in deep mourning. We truly sympathise with the families and friends of the victims. Words are not enough. We have struggled with the decision to continue the festival. Therefore we have decided to cancel Pukkelpop 2011,’ they said in a statement.

Pukkelpop is an annual event in Belgium that started way back 1985.
