Apple’s CEO Officially Tendered His Resignation

The man who has turned into a celebrity in the world of technology being the Chief Executive Officer of Apple Inc. has officially tendered his resignation. He has already filed an indefinite sick-leave since January for his battle against cancer and everyone has already assumed that he could no longer come back. However, no official resignation has been release yet until Wednesday. Although his letter to the board didn’t mention about his health condition, it is clearly the reason behind.

August 24, 2011 – To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Jobs co-founded Apple Inc in 1976 but was unfortunately ousted 9 years after. He returned in 1996 and pursued the company’s vision. He’s behind the huge success of Macintosh computer line, the iPod portable music player and the iPhone smart phone. His official announcements for whatever’s latest in the company has anticipated by millions around the world.

Apple appointed Tim Cook to replace Jobs. Cook’s contribution in the company has also been exceptional being the well-regarded operations chief who had run the company in Jobs’ absence, as chief executive. Jobs will also remain as the chairman of the board.
