Special Concert Stage For Jose Rizal To Rock Philippines


Philippine rock icon Ely Buendia and several artists are geared to rock the nation on Friday in a tribute concert for the country’s national hero,Dr. Jose Rizal.

The said concert, is organized by the National Historical Commission (NHCP) and the Rock Ed Philippines. This concert will be a collaboration of different Filipino artists and will be held at SM Mall of Asia By the Bay in Pasay City on the 16th with a title: “Rock Rizal.”

The aim of this concert is to educate young Filipino and encourage them to participate in socio-cultural activities to become involved in the country’s welfare.With the participation of all major bands and local icons, the organization aims to entice the young ones to participate through music and present history in not-so-boring medium.

“History should not be boring. This is why the commission is trying its best to come up with different activities that encourage students to participate and be more involved,” Dr. Serena Diokno, chairperson of the NHCP, said in a statement.

“Music has become the language of the youth,” she added.

According to NHCP, artists who are set to perform on this concert will be performing songs that “reflect the life and works of Jose Rizal.”

The youngsters may easily learn about Rizal through music as it is expected that they turn their radios on than scanning their books and comprehend what is written.

The artists who are invited to perform are Ely Buendia, Sandwich, Gloc 9, Ebe Dancel, Jett Pangan, Peryodiko, Hijo, Aiza Seguerra and Radioactive Sago Project.

The Rizal fun just doesn’t stop there. After the concert,on the 18th,there will be a fun run to commemorate the national hero’s 150th birth anniversary.

The fun run called “Run Rizal” will start at Rizal monument and will traverse through Roxas Boulevard and Diosdado Macapagal avenues then back to the starting point.

The proceeds of the event shall be donated to the preservation of three major Jose Rizal shrines— in Calamba, Dapitan and Fort Santiago.These three historical places played a very important role in the life of the famous doctor who bravely resisted Spanish rule in the Philippines through his writings.
