Tony Bennett Celebrates 85th Birthday With Concert And New Album


Tony Bennett celebrated his 85th birthday a concert at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The iconic crooner who popularized hits such as “The Best Is Yet To Come” and “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” was actually born on August 3 is also an accomplished painter using his real name Benedetto in his artworks. As a singer Bennet sold more than 50 million records globally.

The concert at the Met also coincides with the release of Bennett’s new album Duets II that includes “Lady Is A Tramp” in a duet with pop singing sensation Lady Gaga.

The star-studded concert featured the legendary crooner singing duets with other stars like Elton John and Aretha Franklin. Robert de Niro, Katie Couric and former President Bill Clinton were also in attendance. Clinton was also with wife U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as he kicked off the event.

For more than half a century, Bennett has entertained old and new music fans. His new album should touch the younger generation especially with his collaboration works that feature Lady Gaga and the late Amy Winehouse.
