Madhur Bhandarkar: “’Heroine’ Back On Track”

Finally, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar can have some closure to his ‘Heroine’ project after it caused quite a war of words between him, Aishwarya Rai and the Bachchans.

If you will recall, Aishwarya Rai was supposed to star in the film, made the announcement that she will do it at the Cannes Film Festival, and even shot some scenes and publicity photos for it – but had to suddenly push the project to the backburner after learning that she was pregnant with her first child with Abhishek Bachchan.

Naturally, Madhur Bhandarkar was outraged, hinting at a ‘deception’ on Aishwarya’s part for not speaking up about her pregnancy soon enough which caused his ‘dream’ project to be canned.

Aishwarya and the patriarch of the Bachchan clan, Amitabh, took Madhur’s hurtful words seriously and it even made Aishwarya decide to return the advance payment she received for agreeing to do the film, although she was not legally required to do so because of the initial scenes she has shoot for the film.

Now, Bhandarkar is happily tweeting that, “Heroine is back on track, pre-production starts from today, need your blessings & prayers!!!”

Since the film’s inception, Bhandarkar was keen on casting Kareena Kapoor as the ‘Heroine’ but she had some issues with the script and the role landed on Aishwarya Rai’s lap.

It seems Kareena was successful in getting Madhur to accede to her demands because she has now decided to do the film again.
