Nirvana’s “Nevermind” Celebrates 20th Anniversary

In late September 1991, an upcoming alterative band called Nirvana released the album “Nevermind” and changed the rock and roll landscape. It also spelled early success for front man Kurt Cobain but it also led to an early end to his life.

Twenty years after “Nevermind” made its first release to influence more musicians in alternative rock music, Universal is set to release its 20th anniversary edition album that features remastered tracks, earlier recordings, demos and other bonus tracks.

Nirvana’s “Nevermind” was actually the band’s second album, having released “Bleach” through an independent label. “Bleach” did not hit the mainstream but “Nevermind” was widely accepted when glam rocker Guns N’ Roses were more commercially popular.

Universal’s Geffen Records made the right move back then by taking a chance on Cobain and Nirvana as “Nevermind” sold a million copies in the first six weeks of release.

The latest release of the 20th anniversary box should be a fitting tribute to the band that influenced many other musicians in the past and until now.
