‘Real Steel’ KOs ‘Ides of March’ at Box Office

Looks like Australian actor and X-men’s ‘Wolverine’, Hugh Jackman has another winning franchise in ‘Real Steel’.

Jackman’s latest starrer knocked out George Clooney’s ‘Ides of March’ in this week’s Box Office results, earning an estimated $27.3 million in its opening weekend alone.

The family flick, which also stars Evangeline Lilly, is only the second highest-grossing “opening” film for a sports drama after 2009’s ‘The Blind Side’ starring Sandra Bullock.

Meanwhile, the George Clooney and Ryan Gosling starred political thriller debuted with an estimated $10.4 million, putting it in a dismal second place.

‘Dolphin Tale’, last week’s box office winner, fell to No. 3 with $9.2 million. Brad Pitt’s Moneyball is at number 4 with $7.5 million and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s 50/50 is at number 5 with $5.5 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Courageous (#6, $4.6 million), The Lion King in 3D (#7, $4.55 million), Dream House (#8, $4.5 million), What’s Your Number? (#9, $3.1 million) and Abduction (#10, $2.9 million).
