Soulja Boy Arrested For Drugs and Guns

DeAndre Cortez Way, more popularly known as Soulja Boy was arrested on Tuesday on charges involving drugs and illegal weapons by Georgia police. The 21-year old rapper-producer was travelling with four crew members in his Cadillac when they were pulled over by law enforcers on Interstate 20 in Temple GA.

Police found guns and marijuana during what was called a “routine traffic stop”, according to police spokesperson Dana Rampy. Soulja Boy and his crew were charged with felony for possession of illegal drugs with the intention to distribute. They were also charged with illegal possession of firearms and were detained at the Carroll County jail.

Soulja Boy has been in headlines for the last few years and on some occasions it was not because of his musical talent. He initially gained fame for his single ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy) in 2007 when it made the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the last few weeks, Soulja Boy was in the center of controversy for the song ‘Let’s Be Real’. U.S. military personnel and supporters found his lyrics to the song offensive and the pressure may have brought him to apologize for it.

This is definitely not how you would want to become famous for. Too bad the issues involving him have overshadowed his musical talent.
