Eric Bana in Elvis & Nixon

Word has gotten around that an Australian actor Eric Bana is set to play American rock and roll legend Elvis in an upcoming feature film tentatively titled Elvis & Nixon. English actor Cary Elwes debuts as director for the film that portrays an important event in the lives of the King of Rock and Roll and the former American President.

The plot revolves around the meeting between Presley and Nixon in December 1970. That meeting between two influential individuals was all about the rock and roll legend asking the president to take him as a Federal Agent in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. It was even rumored that when news came out that Elvis was died in 1977, he remained alive as an undercover federal agent.

Bana will also take on the role of executive producer. His production company Pick Up Truck Pictures has come with Love The Beast in 2009, a documentary on Bana’s love for cars and racing. Elvis & Nixon will be the company’s production debut in the United States.
