Mickey Rourke In ‘Sin City 2’, Out of ‘The Expendables 2’

Movie sequels typically come up short of expectations compared to their original version. Actor Mickey Rourke tries to change that mindset when he takes on a role in a sequel.

Rourke felt that his villain character Ivan Vanko in ‘Iron Man 2’ was made to be one-dimensional and he was quite vocal about his disappointment. He would have wanted a more human approach to his Vanko character but he expressed disappointment that director Jon Favreau pushed for a predictably one-dimensional villain.

The 59-year old star of the critically acclaimed film ‘The Wrestler’ is out of ‘The Expendables 2’ but he may soon appear again in ‘Sin City 2’, the follow up to the 2005 dark action-thriller ‘Sin City’. Rourke appeared as Marv, a lead character in the film adaptation. ‘Sin City’ gained critical and commercial success when it was released in 2005. A reprisal of Rourke’s charismatic character could make moviegoers eager to see the sequel.
