Randy Travis Apologizes for Drunken Issue, blames Super Bowl 2012 celebration

The country singer, and former Marshville resident, Randy Travis is making a viral after he was arrested for being drunk in front of a Texas church.

According to the reports from Denton County in Texas, Travis was arrested by deputies on Monday morning for public intoxification.

Monday evening, WBTV obtained a statement Travis released through his Nashville-based PR firm about his arrest.

“I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl,” Randy Travis said. “I’m committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”

Apparently, the country singer released a statement to a newspaper on Monday saying that the Super Bowl had contributed to his loopy state.

A spokesman for the Denton County Sheriff’s Department said an officer found Travis, 52, sitting and “smelling like alcohol” in his car in front of the nearby First Baptist Church early Monday morning.

According to TMZ, Travis attempted to explain to cops at the time that he had just had a big fight with his girlfriend. However, the officer later noted that “Mr. Travis’ speech was slurred and I was beginning to have a hard time understanding what he was saying.”
