Lady Gaga Speaks Up for Gays, Insists on Revoking Ban in Military

lady-gaga-jet-1Looks like Gaga isn’t all about glam and spotlight. Apparently, she has a heart for gays too.

Award winning singer Lady Gaga used her popularity–or her celebrity platform, rather–to press for repeal of a law in United States prohibiting gays from taking part in the military.

The pop icon made a two-minute video expressing her thoughts regarding the issue.

“The Senate needs to get this bill passed this year to repeal ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,’ otherwise it can take years for it to happen.

“We have to end this law because it reinforces discrimination and it’s setting a bad example,” Gaga said.

She stated “government repression that is killing our youth”, as she stressed the increasing rate of gay suicides.

“You said you would debate and address this law when the Pentagon returned with a strategy and tomorrow morning you will have it. So will you keep your word?”, she furthered, referring to the lawmakers.

However, US president Barrack Obama had already said he favors ending the ban. Yet, most Republicans have not considered ending the ban “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” that they still wanted to wait for the Pentagon review results.

Gorgeous, talented and anti-discrimination. What else does Gaga have to amaze us?
