In last Friday’s entertainment press of FHM Philippines,Derek Ramsay, together with his female counterpart Lovi Poe answered string of questions from the entertainment press.

Derek Ramsay can’t help conceal his happiness as being chosen by the popular mag to grace its yearly FHM Collections edition.Ramsay expressed he felt honored with FHM’s trust in him.

FHM Philippines have been known for choosing big names to grace the cover of their annual FHM Collections. Robin Padilla, Cesar Montano and Vic Sotto are known figures to have been featured in the magazine.

Having been associated with these iconic figures, Derek humbly stated that those personalities have already reached the stratosphere in their careers and are far more successful in comparison with what he achieved.

“Ahm… Robin Padilla yun, Vic Sotto, Cesar Montano. I can’t even imagine myself, comparing myself to those guys. They’re… there,” sabi ni Derek, sabay taas ng kamay bilang pahiwatig na nasa mas mataas na level na ang mga aktor na kanyang nabanggit.

Robin Padilla was the first gentleman to ever been featured in FHM Collections on 2009, on the following year Cesar Montano was featured and Vic Sotto have been featured on several magazine.With these string of top personalities, Derek Ramsay felt ecstatic and jokingly said that he can now boast his achievements.

“I can now make yabang na, I was the third,” nakangiti pang pahayag ni Derek tungkol sa kanyang pagiging FHM Collections cover.

GIRLFRIEND’s Reaction

Derek has been asked about his girlfriend,Angelica Panganiban’s reaction about the cover.Derek humorously referred Angelica as “madam” and told the anticipating press people that her very versatile girlfriend finds the photo shoot amusing as she (Angelica) is used to seeing him topless.

“Ano ang reaction ni ‘Madam’…” biro munang simula ni Derek.

“She really liked the photo shoot. Kasi sawa na rin yata siya na nakikita ako na topless,” natawang sabi ng 31-year-old actor.

“Yeah, she’s always mad at me, ‘coz I’m always nakasando at naka-board shorts at naka-tsinelas. Sabi niya, ‘Magbihis ka naman, magbihis ka naman.’

“So, when she saw this cover and the photos inside, she was very impressed. Just like I was when I saw her FHM,” pahayag pa ni Derek.

“Okay lang na may crush siya kay Angel. Maraming may crush sa kanya kasi maganda si Angel,” the 31-year-old actor stated.

At that same time, as a self-confessed athletic buff, Ramsay accepted Caligdong’s challenge to play one-on-one football.

“Win or lose, it would be fun,” Ramsay said.

Friendly game or not, in the face of true love, you don’t just give up. Right Derek? LOL.  Who’s your bet?

We have seen a good number of actors and actresses who jump off their mother ships and went on to join TV5.

Rumors are now circulating that Derek Ramsay is the next big star who is set to leave his network and become the newest Kapatid of TV5.  However, everything that was written about his showbiz rumor has not given any proof the purported transfer.

Darla Sauler posted on her blog at darlasauler.com about this rumor.  She went on to call Derek and asked him about the truth to the whole issue.  Derek said,

“There is no truth to that, I am under contract with ABS-CBN and I am very happy. And I am the type of person who fulfills his obligations before anything else.”

“Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN)” writer Darla Sauler posted a close-up photo of a guy’s hand holding a girl’s hand wearing an engagement ring. There weren’t any names mentioned but hints were casually dropped: a hunk actor and a primetime teleserye actress.

Speculations  were immediately directed at Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban. However, Angelica was quick to react and tweeted:

“Kelan pa ko naging engaged? Nakakawa to! @darlasauler d to totoo. Chismis kaagad sa new yr? Pangit!!”

It was also predicted by Madam Suzette Arandela that the said couple would have a civil wedding this 2011.

The couple just got back from Palawan where they spent Christmas. The 24-year-old actress posted a photo of them on Twitter, where Derek is shirtless and Angelica wears a 2-pc bikini. Which reminds everyone of the controversial “dukot scandal”.

Panganiban stars on Star Cinema’s horror-comedy film “Bulong” with Vhong Navarro and Bangs Garcia. It will be in theaters nationwide on January 26.

First things first, she clarified that in the party she and her husband hosted last July, they did not invite or rather treat Raymart and Claudine as special guests as what Claudine seemed to be stressing in an interview. She says they invited all their friends, of course including Derek and Angelica. Martin and Cris had been friends with Derek for almost 13 years, and Derek even lived with them for three months straight. Derek is also a father and a best friend to their kids,as what Mrs. Castro had said. Clearly, the Castros have known Derek and Angelica for quite sometime as compared to the Santiagos. However, Cris stressed out that she’s not close to Angelica, and neither to Claudine. She describes Angelica as quiet and shy.

Cris said that on the night of the party, Derek and Angelica arrived quite late and left early. She said Angelica was quiet and was beside Derek all the time that night, maybe uncomfortable coz she didn’t actually know anyone at the party, but still had a smile on her face. Which is contradicting to what Claudine had said that Angelica was in a “padabog-dabog” manner. Cris said that they would’ve heard if Angelica said things about Gretchen that night, she didn’t even heard Gretchen’s name  mentioned. She said it was Claudine who was loud and very friendly that night.

Regarding the rumors about Claudine and her husband, Cris knows its not true. She didn’t even know those rumors existed, it was only Claudine who told her.

And so she told Claudine:

“You’re not having an affair with my husband—so why should you be putting so much energy into this? I don’t care, and you shouldn’t care. You have Raymart, you have your kids, your career. Why should you care? You can’t find time for any of this!”

Claudine was furious and won’ let the issue slip, as it could ruin her career.

“I don’t know if there are rumors. Claudine says there are. Who’s spreading them? We will never know, we will never know. Claudine may have made it up, I’ll never know, and it doesn’t matter. It’s not true anyway!”, Mrs. Castro said.

Cris claims she’s busy and doesn’t have time for all these stuff. Probably, the only reason she spoke up is because  she didn’t like the way their names have been dragged in this mess. As what she says, they’re private people.

“Angelica, we’ve known longer than Claudine. There’s been no rift in all this time, she’s never affected us in this way. But Claudine, in just a couple of months…”, she said.

On the contrary, Cris doesn’t blame Claudine, she says that she just didn’t expect things to turn out like this. But when asked if she regrets being associated with Claudine, she answered:

“Yeah, I guess. I don’t need that noise in my life.”

Cris also mentioned something very intriguing. She said Claudine calls Martin about 30 times a day. Doesn’t it bother her?

In fact, Santiago shares that even before this issue exploded, Castro explained and denied those rumors.  He said that he and Castro, including the hunk model/actor Derek Ramsay decided to talk about this issue and end it in a peaceful manner. Santiago referred their alleged tiff as “simpleng away ng mga magkaibigan na parang magkakapatid kung magturingan.”

However, Raymart claims that he is awfully saddened by this happenings and prays for this issue to end, for the sake of their kids.

The issue reached the showbiz press when Claudine expressed her anger through Twitter about someone, though she didn’t actually named the person. Then later on, the press confirmed that it was indeed Angelica whom Claudine was referring to in her tweets. Both have worked together in “Iisa Pa Lamang”, a teleserye of ABS-CBN way back in 2008, when Claudine was still a Kapamilya star.

Some speculations had been formed that the rupture started when Claudine confronted Angelica the moment she learned that the latter had been spreading false rumors about her sister Gretchen. According to Claudine, Angelica said that Gretchen had been sending her boyfriend Derek Ramsay expensive gifts. And so it seemed that Claudine was just protecting her older sister. Claudine was also furious because somebody confirmed that Angelica was spreading rumors about Claudine having an affair with her husband’s friend.

However, Gretchen denied that she is the flame to their misunderstanding. She also denied that she gave expensive gifts to Derek. She recalled that the only thing she gave to her co-star Derek was a blanket, and she also gave some to the whole cast of Magkaribal.

About the fact that Angelica has been saying things behind her back? Gretchen said she doesn’t believe it.

“You know what, I’ll tell you this: I don’t believe that Angelica said anything like that against me. Kasi kung may sinabi siya na gano’n, hindi siya makakaharap sa akin tulad nang paghaharap niya sa akin. And wala pa ni isang tao sa show business na nagsabi sa aking sinungaling si Angelica. Walang nagsasabi nang ganun. Parati nilang sinasabi na mabuti siyang tao, prangka siyang tao. Kung hindi siya prangka, e, di sana hindi niya ako twinit, ‘no!  Di ba? At sana hindi na rin siya humingi ng tawad, di ba?”, Gretchen said.

It was just recently when Gretchen and Angelica had a disagreement that involves Gretchen’s closeness with Derek Ramsay. Still, they had resolved their conflict eventually.

Gretchen said she doesn’t have anything to do with her sister’s issue. But she admitted that she is somehow affected with what’s going on since it’s still her sister who’s involved and she is also friends with Angelica and Derek at the same time.

Anyway, Gretchen also shared that she respects and admires Angelica and Derek for being sensitive enough about the way the took the matter, coz they still consider Gretchen’s feelings.

Gretchen prays for peace to both parties and hopes that the conflict would be resolved soon.

Barretto also hated how Angelica said things about her sister Gretchen on Twitter. However, she denies that she has an affair with her husband’s friend. She thinks it all started when she and Raymart went to Martin and his wife’s house warming party. Incidentally, Angelica and Derek were also invited.

According to Claudine, Angelica seemed to be in a bad temper that night. It was also then when she heard that Angelica told the other guests that Gretchen gave Derek expensive gifts. Claudine confronted her that night and asked why she was saying those things at the party.  Angelica only replied with a sour “sorry”.

“Inalagaan ko ‘yan since she was nine years old. She was there on my wedding, imbitado siya sa binyag, we invite her to our house, how could she do this to me and my family? Kung may pinagdadaanan siya, sana sabihin niya sa akin, iintindihin ni Ate,”  the 31-year-old actress said tearfully.

Claudine tried to talk with Derek and Angelica formally but it never happened because the couple don’t have time to show up.

As of now, the papers for suing Angelica Panganiban is being finalized. The Santiagos plan to hire Atty. Raymond Fortun as their lawyer.

When her reaction was asked about their meet up, Gretchen did not hide her amusement for Angelica Panganiban.

“It is pure joy to make peace at all cost. Humility is what Angelica Panganiban has taught me. I see Angelica‘s beauty inside and out. I thank my co-star and friend Derek Ramsay for making it possible for Angelica and me to be friends. Angelica came to our Magkaribal set at around 2:30 a.m. today and she brought a lot of joy to everyone. I am so looking forward to countless years of great friendship, fun and laughter.”, Barretto says.

It’s nice to see both parties unite, and not just reconcile for the sake of showbiz. Not only did they gained publicity, they gained friends as well.

It wasn’t a secret that Gretchen Barretto and Angelica Panganiban had a much tensed rift. Why? Angelica–being the girlfriend of Derek Ramsay who plays Gretchen Barretto’s leading man in the hit teleserye Magkaribal—disapproved of Gretchen’s closeness with Derek. Even though the issue remained sort of a taboo, it hadn’t escaped the ridicule of the masses.  Both parties involved kept quiet about the issue.

Nevertheless, there was a twist to every story. Unexpectedly, Last Sunday on The Buzz, Angelica apologized to  Barretto, and even hopes to build a friendship with her.

 In return, Gretchen happily accepted  her apology:

“I’m very, very happy. I consider this a blessing. I respect Angelica more now simply because iba ‘yung matapang ka lang fighting for your right, iba naman ‘yung you can own up to your reactions or admit na, ‘Oops! Nagkamali ako.’ I see the real beauty of Angelica, not just physically but I see the strength of her character. I love her with all my heart.”

She says that she is so willing to be Angelica’s friend. Barretto also claimed that Derek Ramsay had a big part in resolving her conflict with Angelica. She thanked Derek genuinely for putting a great effort in patching up things between her and Angelica. She also showed gratitude for the people—hers and Angelica’s common friends—who helped them, iron out the misunderstanding.

Gretchen expresses that she is so excited and looking forward to meet Angelica in person.
