In fairness to Barretto, she cordially met the media on the set of her photo shoot and gamely answered all questions thrown at her about her family, career, and even her recent trampoline accident.

Things started to turn ugly after the actress said she dreams of studying again, as this made a reporter (said to be from the print media) to point out that while her daughter Dominique is already in college, she just finished 3rd year high school.

Naturally, Barretto felt offended and shot back, “That’s very intrusive. Why emphasize that? … Kakulangan ko ba ‘yon bilang tao (Does that make me a lesser person)? Humaharap naman ako ng maayos sa inyo (I’m here in front of you as a decent person) so why grill me on that? I think we should stop this interview. Nakakapikon na (This is upsetting)!,”

Then turned her back on reporters.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News later on, Barretto explained she did not walk out during the interview.

She said, “I did not (walk out). I just chose to stay away from a situation which is against my sensibility and dignity. You just can’t stand by and accept all questions thrown by media against you and be kawawa (pitiful). That was my choice,” Barretto said.

This soap opera that launched the careers of the late Rico Yan, Claudine Barretto and Diether Ocampo will also pave way for the budding careers of young Kapamilya stars. Lauren Young, Enrique Gil and JM de Guzman are going to play the major roles of the highly-rated drama on TV during the 90’s.

Mula sa Puso is to be directed by Wenn Deramas.

Aside from the three young Kapamilya stars, they will be joined by veteran actors and actress to beef up the powerhouse cast.  Some of them are Ariel Riveral, Dawn Zulueta and Eula Valdez.

News from several entertainment sites circulated that Gretchen Barretto will also be part of Mula sa Puso.

However, ABS-CBN has not yet released any official statement as regards this new project, nor any information as to when will this new soap going to air on the network.

Will Mula sa Puso receive the same warm welcome and success as what Mara Clara is presently enjoying?

We will all see.

“Claudine is obviously going through a tough time—in all aspects of her life. I pray that I have more patience and a little more love for her. Pilitin na lang nating intindihin.

“Although, it’s hurtful. I cannot deny that her words are very hurtful, but as a sister I still choose to understand and I still choose to bear the hurt.”, Gretchen said.

But what really is her stand regarding the issue? Her statements were safe but not that vague.

“If Claudine’s distorted truth about me and about others makes her feel like a better sister and person, if it makes her feel better than the rest of the world, if it makes her feel whole and accepted and loved, if it makes her feel well and stay well and sane, then so be it. As a sister who loves Claudine dearly, I choose to be more understanding and compassionate of her situation.”, Gretchen Barretto stated.

The issue reached the showbiz press when Claudine expressed her anger through Twitter about someone, though she didn’t actually named the person. Then later on, the press confirmed that it was indeed Angelica whom Claudine was referring to in her tweets. Both have worked together in “Iisa Pa Lamang”, a teleserye of ABS-CBN way back in 2008, when Claudine was still a Kapamilya star.

Some speculations had been formed that the rupture started when Claudine confronted Angelica the moment she learned that the latter had been spreading false rumors about her sister Gretchen. According to Claudine, Angelica said that Gretchen had been sending her boyfriend Derek Ramsay expensive gifts. And so it seemed that Claudine was just protecting her older sister. Claudine was also furious because somebody confirmed that Angelica was spreading rumors about Claudine having an affair with her husband’s friend.

However, Gretchen denied that she is the flame to their misunderstanding. She also denied that she gave expensive gifts to Derek. She recalled that the only thing she gave to her co-star Derek was a blanket, and she also gave some to the whole cast of Magkaribal.

About the fact that Angelica has been saying things behind her back? Gretchen said she doesn’t believe it.

“You know what, I’ll tell you this: I don’t believe that Angelica said anything like that against me. Kasi kung may sinabi siya na gano’n, hindi siya makakaharap sa akin tulad nang paghaharap niya sa akin. And wala pa ni isang tao sa show business na nagsabi sa aking sinungaling si Angelica. Walang nagsasabi nang ganun. Parati nilang sinasabi na mabuti siyang tao, prangka siyang tao. Kung hindi siya prangka, e, di sana hindi niya ako twinit, ‘no!  Di ba? At sana hindi na rin siya humingi ng tawad, di ba?”, Gretchen said.

It was just recently when Gretchen and Angelica had a disagreement that involves Gretchen’s closeness with Derek Ramsay. Still, they had resolved their conflict eventually.

Gretchen said she doesn’t have anything to do with her sister’s issue. But she admitted that she is somehow affected with what’s going on since it’s still her sister who’s involved and she is also friends with Angelica and Derek at the same time.

Anyway, Gretchen also shared that she respects and admires Angelica and Derek for being sensitive enough about the way the took the matter, coz they still consider Gretchen’s feelings.

Gretchen prays for peace to both parties and hopes that the conflict would be resolved soon.

Barretto also hated how Angelica said things about her sister Gretchen on Twitter. However, she denies that she has an affair with her husband’s friend. She thinks it all started when she and Raymart went to Martin and his wife’s house warming party. Incidentally, Angelica and Derek were also invited.

According to Claudine, Angelica seemed to be in a bad temper that night. It was also then when she heard that Angelica told the other guests that Gretchen gave Derek expensive gifts. Claudine confronted her that night and asked why she was saying those things at the party.  Angelica only replied with a sour “sorry”.

“Inalagaan ko ‘yan since she was nine years old. She was there on my wedding, imbitado siya sa binyag, we invite her to our house, how could she do this to me and my family? Kung may pinagdadaanan siya, sana sabihin niya sa akin, iintindihin ni Ate,”  the 31-year-old actress said tearfully.

Claudine tried to talk with Derek and Angelica formally but it never happened because the couple don’t have time to show up.

As of now, the papers for suing Angelica Panganiban is being finalized. The Santiagos plan to hire Atty. Raymond Fortun as their lawyer.

When her reaction was asked about their meet up, Gretchen did not hide her amusement for Angelica Panganiban.

Angelica came to our Magkaribal set at around 2:30 a.m. today and she brought a lot of joy to everyone. It’s nice to see both parties unite, and not just reconcile for the sake of showbiz. Not only did they gained publicity, they gained friends as well.

It wasn’t a secret that Gretchen Barretto and Angelica Panganiban had a much tensed rift. Why? Angelica–being the girlfriend of Derek Ramsay who plays Gretchen Barretto’s leading man in the hit teleserye Magkaribal—disapproved of Gretchen’s closeness with Derek. Even though the issue remained sort of a taboo, it hadn’t escaped the ridicule of the masses.  Both parties involved kept quiet about the issue.

Nevertheless, there was a twist to every story. Unexpectedly, Last Sunday on The Buzz, Angelica apologized to  Barretto, and even hopes to build a friendship with her.

 In return, Gretchen happily accepted  her apology:

“I’m very, very happy. I consider this a blessing. I respect Angelica more now simply because iba ‘yung matapang ka lang fighting for your right, iba naman ‘yung you can own up to your reactions or admit na, ‘Oops! Nagkamali ako.’ I see the real beauty of Angelica, not just physically but I see the strength of her character. I love her with all my heart.”

She says that she is so willing to be Angelica’s friend. Barretto also claimed that Derek Ramsay had a big part in resolving her conflict with Angelica. She thanked Derek genuinely for putting a great effort in patching up things between her and Angelica. She also showed gratitude for the people—hers and Angelica’s common friends—who helped them, iron out the misunderstanding.

Gretchen expresses that she is so excited and looking forward to meet Angelica in person.

Gretchen Barretto and Angelica Panganiban are exchanging heated words over a hunk named Derek Ramsay who is the latter’s boyfriend for years now.

Gretchen first shared her sentiments during the TV show interview on “The Buzz” that she will surely miss her leading man after Derek and Angelica are set to have an African escapade for a whole month and that she would only want Derek’s solo pictures as souvenir gift.

Angelica never took this lightly as she is purported to have tweeted the following messages:

“Totoo nga.. Nakakaloka pala talaga. Oh well… Nakakaawa ka.. Mukhang d ka masaya.. Goodnight..”

While Gretchen shot back also saying she is prepared for any war with her red stilettos on.

My thoughts on this?  Just another media stunt to promote Gretchen and Derek’s newest teleserye.

Gretchen is being accused of being unprofessional and that she is always late during tapings of her new show that also stars Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay.

But La Greta’s knight on a shinning armor automatically came in to her defense.  Derek Ramsay said that these accusations are baseless.

“She’s focused. She arrives as Gretchen and when she’s on the set she’s Victoria (Barretto’s character). I really see the effort she’s putting in and she’s really the one who wants this to push through on June 21.”

“Magkaribal” will air starting on June 21, 2010 at ABS-CBN.

First Point: Though Ruffa had already accepted Krissy’s humble apologies to what we may call a little misunderstanding blown into a national issue for publicity’s sake, and Ruffa also asking for apologies to Noynoy Aquino, the big guns of her mother instantaneously fell silent.

If I may, Annabelle Rama should in the first place be the one to have been asking for apologies to Noynoy Aquino and family, for what has been a very unbecoming behavior and remarks uncalled for a public figure and a mother of celebrities.  But as usual, her over-inflated ego will never tell her to stoop down and ask for any apology.  As what Pilate said, “What has been written is written.” For Rama though,”What has been uttered, was uttered.” WTF!

Second Point:  Gretchen Barretto coming into the picture of the Sunday showbiz talk show will make it even a more exciting program compared with Ruffa around.  What we are all excited to see is the face off between La Greta and Kristeta.

Will it also come to a point of another walkout?  Hmmm, we will know…Who will walkout?… We will know if it will reach to that point.  At least Gretchen does not have a mother who throws out punches below the belt.

But with all certainty, while Rufa was trying to bring with her the attention of people as she transfers to TV5, people will stick their hearts on “The Buzz” especially with Gretchen Barretto around.
