For those who haven’t read yet that post, it is here on “Intellectualizing PBB Resbak Attack, the Mudslinging and All”.

Commenters like Kitkat who was also an avid fan of the show (take note of the word “was”) felt that the show has gone overboard saying,

Filipino viewers are more intelligent than what they think. There are lots of creative ideas on how to do that ‘resbak.’ Let them engage into a skill competition while the ‘resbak team’ treat them formally & in a businesslike manner, not with verbal & physical VIOLENCE. They could hurl some judgments, but only after pointing out their good qualities first. Not with stupidity like : ‘puti ka ug itlog’–Princess’s statement. That was really stupid & unnecessary. Scandalosa….ganyan ba ang mga filipina?

While Thinking Out Loud shared how the show has turned from an enjoyable and relaxing experience into an exhausting situation for a viewer like him,

I just hope that whatever it is they get the result they want includng the ratings. Ive seen it, didnt like it. After a long day at work i just want to feel relax and not stress myself anymore.

With all these reasons and valid observations, commenters and readers on that post already raised the red flag for the MTRCB to take a serious look at the show as it already poses a great danger to the viewers especially the young ones. While MTRCB immediately took notice of just the first incident on “Showtime” and gave it a preventive suspension (though I think on that incident it has abused its power), I think, PBB “Resbak Attack” poses an even greater, more serious danger with the way it is presently being run by its spin doctors

While Osang’s remarks came from just one person who is just a guest judge on a live program with the staff of the show having no control of it, the “Resbak Attack” is the brainchild of its writers and staff and is still subject to editing before being televised, making the matter more serious in terms of total disregard on self-regulation.  Are the people behind the show getting happy when their contestants are already fighting against each other uttering foul words and showing unbecoming behaviors that young viewers could easily pick up?

The MTRCB should already step in this time around.

I myself after two episodes of that promised twist have stopped watching the show. What can you get with a TV show that espouses violence, trash talk, verbal abuses and unbecoming characters just to get some media mileage and a little upper hand on ratings?

As I shared before, when Laurenti Dyogi was confronted with the issue of gender discrimination (regarding Rica) that is happening inside the house, he said that they will be doing something on that, and though it is negative issue, at least the show is being talked about.

And here is what Kitkat has to say to that,

I used to be a fan of PBB, not anymore. No matter how PBB justifies the ‘mudslinging’ & verbal violence. A spade is still a spade. They have underestimated the intellect of the Filipino viewers.

MTRCB Should Already Take A Serious Look at PBB "Resbak Attack" is a copyrighted article from Showbiz Renegade

Far from being plausible, pleasing and enjoyable on my palate, it is nonetheless the very goal of the show’s writers (or Big Brother?)…to test the patience and reveal the so-called real characters of the remaining housemates.

This is where the show gets so stupid and former housemates easily made out of themselves fools, stupefying themselves by mudslinging other housemates just for the sake of testing their patience and having another shot in front of the rolling camera?

Duh!  Anyone who will not get pissed off or freak out when strangers rampage your home comparable to a deluge that a deadly tsunami could bring is a total stupid.  Anyone who will not get offended by the very people they call friends ruin their characters and attack them personally with unfounded allegations of mischief and viciousness is a nuthead.  It is like, “Hey I am going to smash the bumper and side mirror of your father’s car and the favorite porcelain vase of your mom, let us see if they will get angry and show their real selves.”

Thus, are there any drought of creative juices already inside the membranes of spin doctors to think of making a twist with already a very predictable outcomes and put the remaining housemates at the mercy of public opinion when they act not according to what is acceptable, or be judged as not showing their real color when they play it cool.

This where the premise of mocking the remaining housemates and pissing them off, just for the sake of seeing their so-called “real selves” be revealed is very problematic if not erroneous.  Because the “real self” is not the angry nor the pissed off self that is being induced by the former housemates to the remaining ones, it is only one aspect of the “self” and giving it all the reasons to feel bad and angry is just but normal; for the “real self” is an all-encompassing perspective of the totality of being of a person on all aspects of his life and on all of his emotions and decision-making.  Hay…

And why give the chance to former housemates to have a shot at the Php 250,000 price against the remaining housemates on one of the upcoming weekly task when the former have already been voted out from the show as decided by their fellow housemates during nomination and have been given judgment by public opinion.  This is recycling what has already been booted out and disregarding public opinion, more so the spirit of justice and fairness for all those who are still remaining inside the house who had worked out their best to stay and been chosen by the voting public to contend for their rightful spots.

With this post, surely the show and the twist for that matter have triumphed on sowing a real interest to the new episode as what Laurenti Dyogi once said on the issue of sexual discrimination, that it is still good since people are talking about it.

Without Melai, I think the new twist has easily morphed into a suspense-thriller mini series similar to Harper’s Island.  I like watching the show, but this time I am pissed off.  Maybe it is just me; or it is just me intellectualizing on an episode that should have just been followed without using too much comprehension.  Just ranting…

We have seen during the previous episodes how Hermes and Johan fought over the same girl and have shown their individual style on how to court a lady.  On that challenge, I think Johan won, as for heaven’s sake, anyone who will find it a memorable date when your hands were locked on your partner like a criminal hooked with a policeman, with only wine, mango and a slice of cake for a meal, is a nuts or simply a pure masochist?!

I will not then be a wonder if soon we are to find a new love team with Cathy now out of the picture, as the two guys ended up finding each other.  How about a Johan-Hermes love team?  LOL!  That could sound JoHerm love team?  LOL!  Could easily be the craziest twist of the game.

PBB Resbak Attack, A Copycat

Yes, that is what I think.  The newest twist inside the Big Brother House is by recalling some of the evicted housemates and housing them once again to conquer and battle it out with other remaining housemates.

If you have observed it well, the promotion video and all the housemates that were chosen on this particular new challenge and as they call it “twist” are somewhat known to have some antagonistic behaviors, or have shown such episodes inside the Big Brother House.  Or the promotion have selected only those times that these people have shown some aggressive behaviors.  To this, I can’t help but automatically see a program with the somewhat the same format:  the latest Survivor 20:  Heroes vs. Villains.

On this newest season of Survivor, previous Survivor contestants were recalled and divided into two camps/tribes:  those who have strong personalities were put into the villain group while those who have shown some kindness of sorts as contestants were put into the group they call heroes.

Those people they have chosen to do the “resbak’ thing are not really bad people (Rob, Tom, Rica, Delio, Patrick, Princess) but have strong personalities.  I think the people behind the program chose these people to project a hero vs. villain twist inside the Big Brother House, with the latter expected to give the remaining housemates lots of headaches and tough fights.  That is why; they have not chosen Carol or Patria, coz these ladies will surely not project that antagonistic behaviors expected from them to have a rowdy and conflicted household.

So, not really a new concept.
